A haloed, robed Christ with arms outstretched appears above a dense walled Jerusalem. The print pairs the vision with a passage from Isaias: “Loose the bonds from off thy neck, O captive daughter of Sion. . . . Rejoice with Jerusalem all you that love her . . . for thus saith the Lord: Behold I will bring upon her as it were a river of peace.” The verses call the captive daughter of Sion to freedom and Jerusalem to rejoice, drawing on the prophecy of the city’s restoration.
Sepia halftone with white border; foxing and toning visible on border and image. No postmark; the back is entirely printed—a promotional appeal for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, with a membership dues schedule and the Albany Diocesan Director's address (Rev. J. F. Glavin, Herrick Street, Rensselaer, N.Y.)—and carries no handwritten message. Front has a white border and matte sepia halftone; back shows age spots.
