About this postcard

An illustrated Christmas greeting shows a hearth-side room: a fire burning under a kettle, a Windsor chair drawn close, a small table with red potted flowers, a hanging birdcage, and a diamond-paned window. The printed verse sends friendliness and "good old fashioned cheer," along with old-time memories dear. The card is addressed to Mrs. Austin Nichols in Norwich, New York, and signed from Grandma Leatham, a family holiday greeting from one generation to another. The scene is a conventional domestic Christmas hearth, a common motif in early twentieth-century holiday cards.
