About this postcard

Printed Christmas greeting showing sprays of holly with red berries, a bird's nest holding a robin, and a second robin perched on evergreen branches, with the greeting "To Wish you a merry Christmas" at the lower right. Holly and the robin were long-established Christmas motifs in the Victorian and Edwardian era, when chromolithographed greeting postcards of this kind were exchanged in great numbers. The stippled, glittering background is typical of decorated holiday cards of the period.
