About this postcard
Two glossy red glass Christmas ornaments are nestled among green fir branches, with brown pine cones at the lower corners. The German greeting "Herzliche Weihnachtsgrüße und alles Gute im neuen Jahr" is printed in gold script across a pale background, wishing the recipient a merry Christmas and a good new year. The card was sent from Heidelberg to Dearborn, Michigan, in 1971. A printed reminder not to forget the postal code appears with the holiday wish, a practical note common on German mail of the period. The card links Heidelberg, a university city on the Neckar, with Dearborn, a Detroit-area manufacturing town.
