A black-and-white close view of a Christmas tree branch with two glass ornaments and a lit white candle in a star-shaped holder, set against dark pine needles. The card's gold German greeting reads "Frohe Weihnachten und viel Glück im Neuen Jahr," and a printed line asks that Christmas mail be sent early. Sent from Heide, West Germany, to Dearborn, Michigan, in December 1966, it pairs a simple holiday image with the practical reminder to post parcels in time for Christmas.
White border around a black-and-white halftone image; greeting printed in gold script: "Frohe Weihnachten und viel Glück im Neuen Jahr." Divided back with handwritten German greeting in ink ("Ich wünsche dir ein glückliches Weihnachtsfest und ein glückliches neues Jahr"); printed back heading "Weihnachts=sendungen bitte rechtzeitig einliefern"; return address "Familie Lenzet." Postmark: HEID 8.12.66 14, 69. German Deutsche Bundespost 30pf stamp inscribed FLENSBURG/SCHLESWIG; glossy photo card; blue ink smudge near address. Addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Harlan W. Elmore, 25054 Stanford St., Dearborn, Mich. 48125, U.S.A.
