About this postcard
A brick church with a steep gabled roof, arched windows and a square tower topped by a cross stands on a broad green lawn, with a flower-lined walk leading to the entrance and two small figures near the door. The Church of the Recessional was built in 1949 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California, one of the cemetery's early themed buildings designed in a simplified English Gothic style; it takes its name from the custom of pausing there for a recessional hymn after graveside services. The card's linen texture and Curt Teich-style job number place it in the mid-20th century.
