About this postcard

The card shows the Church of the Sacred Heart in downtown Tampa, Florida: a large light-stone Romanesque Revival church with a tall rose window, arcaded triple portal, and a prominent dome crowned with a cross, fronting a paved street lined with 1930s–40s automobiles and a red-brick building at right. The parish church was built at the turn of the twentieth century and remains one of Tampa's best-known historic religious landmarks. The linen-era coloring, with a peach and blue sky, is typical of mid-century Florida view cards.
