About this postcard
A wave bursts into a tall plume of white spray between dark, ledgy granite rocks, with the open sea and a pale horizon behind. The printed caption names the spot as Churn and Surf at Marblehead Neck, the rocky peninsula that forms the eastern side of Marblehead Harbor on Massachusetts Bay north of Boston. Its exposed granite ledges and surf drew visitors, and the 1896 Marblehead Light stands at the tip of the neck. The message signed 'Grandma' mentions standing 'on the rocks where you see the spray coming on them,' tying the family note to the surf in the picture.
