About this postcard

A carpet-bedding garden of red, white, yellow, and blue plantings fills the foreground lawn, with Jackson's City Hall on the left and the Hinds County Court House behind it to the right. Cars from the late 1930s are parked along the brick-paved street. Jackson, the state capital and Hinds County seat, was named for Andrew Jackson and lies on the Pearl River in a cotton-growing section near the long-leaf pine region. The Greek Revival City Hall dates to the mid-19th century, and the municipal grounds were long noted for formal floral displays.
