About this postcard
A carpet-bedding flower garden of red, white, yellow and blue plantings fills the foreground lawn, with the neoclassical City Hall on the left and the Hinds County Court House behind it to the right; automobiles of the late 1930s are parked along the brick-paved street. Jackson's City Hall, a Greek Revival structure of the mid-19th century, stands near the Hinds County Court House, and the municipal grounds were long noted for their formal floral displays. The scene is rendered in the tinted, textured style typical of American linen postcards of the 1930s and 1940s.
