About this postcard
A view across City Hall Square in Brooklyn, with a bronze standing figure on a pedestal rising from a small circular pool and lawn in the foreground, horse-drawn wagons and pedestrians crossing the open square, and a steel elevated railway structure with trains and trolleys cutting across the middle distance. Tall commercial blocks flank the square, and a domed tower flying American flags rises at the right. The square lay in front of Brooklyn's Borough Hall, and the monument shown is the Henry Ward Beecher memorial by John Quincy Adams Ward, dedicated in 1891 at the head of the plaza.
