About this postcard

A tinted street view of City Hall Square in Hartford, Connecticut, with a green and red open-platform trolley car halted at the center while pedestrians in period dress and a horse-drawn wagon and carriage move about the square. Tall commercial blocks line the left side, one bearing signs for a printing establishment and a tea company, while a large tree and a sign reading "WEST BOUND PASSENGERS TAKE CARS HERE" frame the right. Hartford's City Hall Square was the civic and commercial heart of the city in the early 20th century, served by an extensive trolley network before streetcars gave way to buses.
