About this postcard

The card shows the massive St. Louis City Hall, a French Renaissance-style building with steep red-tiled roofs, ornate gables and a tall central tower, seen across a lawn and roadway with two early automobiles in the foreground. Completed in 1904 to designs by the local firm Eckel & Mann, the building was modeled on the Hôtel de Ville in Paris and remains the seat of St. Louis city government facing Tucker Boulevard. The automobiles suggest the card was printed in the 1910s or 1920s.
