About this postcard
The view shows Bridgeport's City Hospital, a long brick and stone institutional building with a central tower and small cupola, set back behind lawns, a curving drive and mature shade trees. Wings of differing brick tones and a vine-covered section flank the towered entrance. Bridgeport was then one of New England's busiest industrial cities, and its growing population supported a matching complex of hospitals and charitable institutions. Edna Woodell wrote across the front that the cards were very much appreciated and that she hoped to come to "Whittier - Seaand" sometime, a place name that may be a garbled rendering; the note was sent to Mrs. James Hassett in Amesbury, Massachusetts.
