About this postcard
A tall stone pedestal topped by a rifle-bearing soldier statue stands among trees beside a park road, with a horse-drawn carriage and driver passing on the right and several smaller monuments visible behind. The printed caption places the scene in Kelly Field, part of the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, the battlefield park established in 1890 and filled with unit monuments marking the September 1863 battle. Kelly Field takes its name from the farm field where some of the heaviest fighting of the second day's battle occurred.
