About this postcard
The view shows a large classical government building with a central dome, a columned portico, and long wings, set behind a lawn. A figure or equestrian monument on a pedestal stands at the left foreground, and a tall column monument rises at the right; small figures walk the paths in front. The message turns the view into a campaign card: James W. Bean asks for support in the Republican primary on Sept 21, when he sought renomination as a Representative in the Massachusetts General Court. The General Court is the state legislature, and the domed capitol makes a fitting civic setting for a local legislative race.
