An elevated view looks down a wooded valley where Clear Creek winds between forested hills, a small bridge crossing the water in the distance. Green timber covers the slopes, ridges roll back toward the horizon, and pink-tinted clouds hang above them.
The printed caption places the scene along U.S. Highway 71 in Arkansas. That road climbs north out of Fort Smith into the Ozarks, and roadside views like this one sold the region's mountains and clear-running streams to motorists and armchair travelers in the 1930s.
Linen texture; white border; printed caption at top partially cropped reading “Clear Creek from U.S. Highway 71 in the Arkansas [illegible]”; series 7A159-N at lower right.
No postmark. Divided-back C.T. American Art (Curt Teich) card, white border, linen texture; S. & S. News Agency, Fort Smith, Ark., distributor; dealer pencil prices (112, 2.00, 25-) on back. No message or address written.
