Black-and-white interior view of Clifton's Brookdale Cafeteria, with diners seated at tables in front of an artificial rock formation, a small stone tower, and painted redwood trees. A cave-like arch and faux cliff carry the forest theme across the dining room.
The downtown Los Angeles cafeteria was part of Clifford Clinton's chain, which opened the Brookdale location in the 1930s. Its elaborate rustic decor gave customers a woodland setting for an everyday meal on South Broadway.
