About this postcard
An elevated aerial view looks down on a large cloverleaf highway interchange where U.S. Routes 49, 51 and 80 converge at the edge of Jackson, Mississippi, with curving ramps, a concrete overpass and a rail line threading through green fields and woods, and the city's buildings clustered at the upper right. The card's caption names the junction as the gateway into Jackson. Such four-leaf cloverleaf interchanges were hallmarks of mid-century American highway engineering, and this one carried three federal routes through the Mississippi capital.
