A broad, pale walkway runs between rows of coconut palms whose long fronds arch overhead and meet above the path, with a white slat bench set on the grass at right and water glimpsed through the trunks at left. The card names the scene as Coconut Avenue in Palm Beach, Florida, one of the palm-lined drives and walks laid out in the resort town developed by Henry M. Flagler's hotels and the Florida East Coast Railway in the 1890s. Such avenues of transplanted coconut palms became a signature sight of the young winter resort.
