About this postcard
The view looks north across the Wesleyan University campus in Middletown, Connecticut, over a grassy slope and a curving path. A large brick building with a mansard roof stands at left, a stone chapel-like building sits near the center, and a church spire rises at right above the trees. Wesleyan was founded by Methodist ministers in 1831 and had become an established New England college by the time this card was mailed. Its campus sat just west of Middletown's downtown, close to the Connecticut River, and the mix of brick dormitories, chapels, and academic halls gave the college its characteristic College Row frontage.
