About this postcard

A street-corner view of the Colonial Trust Company's white neoclassical bank building, with red-painted window trim and quoins, arched windows along the ground floor, and a dark domed cupola on the roof; a lone figure stands at the entrance and a brick building shows through the trees at right. The card's own caption names it as the Colonial Trust Company of Waterbury, Connecticut, and the copyright line dates the view to 1905. Waterbury was then one of New England's leading brass and metal-goods manufacturing cities, and its banks lined the downtown streets near the factories.
