About this postcard

Night view of the Colorado State Capitol in Denver, its illuminated gold-topped dome rising above a dark, floodlit Corinthian portico and rows of glowing windows, with trees and street lamps in the foreground. The building, designed by Elijah E. Myers in a Corinthian order modeled on the U.S. Capitol, was completed in 1894 and its dome was gilded with gold leaf in 1908; it stands at the east end of Denver's Civic Center and is famously inscribed as one mile above sea level. The card's own caption names it simply as the Colorado State Capitol by night.
