A view of the Colorado State Capitol in Denver, seen across a lawn framed by trees, with its gilded dome rising above a classical granite facade of columns and pediment; three 1930s automobiles and globe street lamps line the drive in the foreground. Completed in 1901 to designs by Elijah E. Myers, the building's dome was covered in gold leaf in 1908 to commemorate the Colorado gold rush. It has housed the Colorado General Assembly and the offices of the governor ever since.
