About this postcard

A long two-story brick mill building with rows of tall multi-pane windows stretches across the frame, with a tall smokestack rising behind it and a water tower at the right; a grassy, overgrown lot and a line of 1930s–40s automobiles occupy the foreground. The card's own caption identifies it as the Columbierville Woolen Mills of Columbiaville, Michigan, a small community on the Flint River in Lapeer County that grew up around lumber and milling enterprises in the nineteenth century. The photograph's vintage automobiles and the mill's weathered condition suggest a mid-twentieth-century view of the plant.
