About this postcard
A comic child with a pointed tuft of black hair, a wide ruffled white collar, pale blue smock, blue shorts and black stockings stands hands-behind-back on a black slate-like panel, framed by a printed wood-grain border with simulated metal corner screws. Chalk-style white lettering reads "YOU iZ MY BEST GIRL" beside the figure and "To My Valentine" below, with the artist's signature "Curtis" near the boots. The 1902 copyright by Raphael Tuck & Sons, a London firm founded in 1866 that became one of the largest postcard publishers in the world, places this in the undivided-back era of American postcards.
