Comic pennant postcard, Burlington, Pennsylvania, circa 1908

About this postcard

A comic souvenir card pairing a green-and-red pennant lettered "BURLINGTON, PA." with a halftone photograph of a young couple in a close embrace, the man kissing the woman's cheek while she wears a wide-brimmed hat. The framing lines "They Do These Things in" and "Only on Long Acquaintance" turn the picture into a joke about small-town courtship customs. Burlington is a small borough in Bradford County, in north-central Pennsylvania.
