About this postcard

A chromolithographed comic scene shows a dapper man in a top hat and plaid overcoat pressing a folded banknote into the hand of a grinning farmer in a straw hat, red shirt and blue overalls, who already clutches a green bill; a farmhouse and field appear at the left. The printed caption, "I've got a little money, and I've saved it all for you," plays on the era's stock joke of the city sharper and the country rube. Such illustrated humor cards were a staple of the early twentieth-century postcard boom, when millions were mailed daily in the United States.
