About this postcard
A flat-color comic illustration shows a mustachioed policeman in a domed helmet and dark uniform escorting a smiling woman in a yellow dress who carries a bottle, with a black "PATROL" wagon and yellow spoked wheels behind them. The joke is carried by the printed box at right, "HE CERTAINLY WAS GOOD TO ME," a typical early-20th-century humorous postcard gag playing on a tipsy arrest. Such comic cards were a staple of the era's postcard boom, when millions were mailed and collected in albums.
