About this postcard

A tall granite obelisk topped by a bronze figure of a Confederate soldier rises from a landscaped island with lamp posts and trees, in a tinted view of the monument as it stood in Louisville. The memorial was dedicated in 1895 at the intersection of Third Street and Broadway, with the bronze soldier cast in Munich, and it long served as a gathering point in the city before being dismantled and relocated to Brandenburg, Kentucky, in 2016. The card's caption names it simply as the Confederate Monument, Louisville, Ky.
