About this postcard
A snow-covered park scene with a curving canal or pond in the foreground, a brownstone memorial arch with twin towers at left, and the domed Connecticut State Capitol rising among bare, frost-covered trees at right beneath a pink and yellow sunset sky. The arch is the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch in Hartford's Bushnell Park, designed by George Keller and dedicated in 1886 to honor Connecticut's Civil War dead; the Capitol, designed by Richard Upjohn, was completed in 1878 and is topped by a gold-leaf dome. The card's own caption names the view simply as "Capitol and Arch (Winter Scene), Hartford, Conn."
