About this postcard

Three white cottages with red roofs and half-timbered gables sit on a landscaped hillside of flowering shrubs, with a wooded mountain rising behind them. The printed caption, "THE MANOR BULLETIN," places the view at Albemarle Park in Asheville, North Carolina, a planned residential park laid out in the late 1890s on the city's north side. The bulletin was the park's own publication, and the card appears to have served as a promotional view of the community. A handwritten rail itinerary on the back links Asheville with Cincinnati and Chicago, the kind of note travelers often kept on a postcard.
