Second Street is lined with stacks of cotton bales waiting for shipment, with a horse-drawn wagon and a loaded cart in the roadway. Behind the bales are the Willingham cotton warehouses, marked E.J. & P.D. Willingham, and a row of brick commercial blocks with domes, towers, and a distant clock tower. By 1908, Macon was one of the largest inland cotton markets in the South, and Second Street was a familiar place to grade, weigh, and store bales before they moved by rail.
Thin white border; dark smudge/stain at top center; printed card number 20180 in the caption.
