A shaded, tree-arched residential street stretches into the distance, with iron and picket fences, a gas-style street lamp on the left sidewalk, and frame houses glimpsed among the elms. The card's own caption names it County Street in New Bedford, Massachusetts, the great whaling and textile port of the era. County Street was long one of the city's principal residential avenues, lined with the mansions of whaling merchants and later mill owners.
Photographer's signature in the negative at lower left; thin white border; black-and-white real photo print.
