About this postcard

A tinted photograph shows a smiling young woman in a long white dress and hat waving as she walks arm in arm with a man in a dark suit, tie, and straw boater. He carries a suitcase at his side. They stand in a grassy field with low hills and a rustic wooden post behind them, and the printed line "Back again." gives the scene its light-hearted homecoming or holiday-return greeting. The senders, Sam and Mae, mention looking for the recipients at the fair and name the Binghamton and Cobleskill fairs, placing the card in late-September fair season in upstate New York. Comic and greeting postcards of the period often used rural scenes and simple captions to carry ordinary family news.
