The card pictures the Waterbury, Connecticut court house, a large Beaux-Arts civic building of buff brick and light stone, crowned by a tall ribbed dome with a smaller secondary dome behind it and fronted by columned porticoes reached by broad steps. Lawns, curving walks and mature shade trees surround the structure, with a low wall and roadway in the foreground. Waterbury was a major brass and metal-goods manufacturing center of the Naugatuck Valley, and its turn-of-the-century public buildings reflected that industrial prosperity.
