About this postcard
The card shows a painted diorama of a covered wagon train crossing a desert landscape, with mountains rising behind. A man drives the lead wagon while a woman and child ride inside; a second wagon follows. At Knott's Berry Farm, the display was housed in the old Ghost Town Hotel and used a large panorama with night lighting, spoken words, and music to tell the journey. The message says the painting was made in honor of Walter Knott's mother, who came by covered wagon in 1868. By the early 1950s, Knott's Berry Farm had grown from a berry stand and chicken dinner restaurant into a family attraction with its Ghost Town of relocated old buildings.
