About this postcard
The printed caption calls her a "Cow Puncher Girl." The illustration shows a young woman in western dress riding a bucking dark horse, her right arm raised as she swings a lasso overhead. A second rider is faintly sketched in the dusty, pastel background. In the early 20th century, women on horseback were a familiar figure in Wild West shows and rodeos, where horse handling drew crowds and gave women a public role in a popular western myth. "Cow puncher" was period slang for a cowboy or ranch hand, and the caption casts her as both worker and performer.
