About this postcard

A cowboy in a wide-brimmed hat, light coat and fringed chaps sits a white horse facing a cowgirl in a red blouse, dark divided skirt and hat on a matching white horse, the two animals nose to nose on an open grassy prairie under a pale sky. The card names the scene as the 101 Ranch at Bliss, Oklahoma, the sprawling Kay County spread established by Colonel George W. Miller in the 1890s, whose Miller Brothers' 101 Ranch Real Wild West show made it one of the best-known ranching names in America. Such chromolithographed views were printed in Germany and distributed by regional publishers like H. H. Clarke of Oklahoma City.
