About this postcard
A comic Western illustration shows a cowboy in a yellow shirt and red neckerchief pitched forward as his bronco bucks, his wide-brimmed hat flying into a blue, cloud-streaked sky while a jackrabbit bolts from the brush below. The printed caption, "Ride 'Em, Cowboy, Ride 'Em," and a verse about how some in the West ride and some don't, depending on the man and the critter, frame the scene as a rodeo-style gag rather than a specific place or event. The message from a Quartermaster Corps soldier at Camp Howze, Texas, to his family in Nebraska mentions cold weather, a bad storm to the north, and a hoped-for furlough. Camp Howze was a World War II Army training camp in North Texas, and comic Western cards were common souvenir mail in the 1930s through the 1950s.
