About this postcard

A large concrete crane and power house structure at Kentucky Dam stand above landscaped grounds, with an American flag flying from the structure and a few small figures near flower beds and a lawn in the foreground. The dam was a Tennessee Valley Authority project on the Tennessee River near Paducah. Completed in 1944, it impounded Kentucky Lake and helped turn the lower Tennessee Valley into a power-producing and recreation region. The card presents the dam as a new engineering landmark, with the reservoir promoted as the largest man-made lake in the world.
