A large crape myrtle (printed "crape myrtle") in full pink-and-white bloom dominates the view, its dark trunk rising beside the steps of a light-colored house, with other trees and a lawn beyond. The card is a Detroit Publishing Co. "Phostint"-style color view, a photomechanical print made from a photograph. Crape myrtles (Lagerstroemia indica), native to Asia, became popular ornamental street and garden trees in early twentieth-century California for their long summer flowering.
White border; publisher's red circular imprint "DETROIT PUBLISHING Co." at lower right; light edge wear and faint soiling on the border.
No postmark. Undivided back printed 'POST CARD / THIS SIDE FOR THE ADDRESS.' with stamp box 'PLACE STAMP HERE. / UNITED STATES AND CANADA. ONE CENT. / FOREIGN. TWO CENTS' — undivided-back era (c. 1901-1907). Card is unused: no message, no address, no stamp. Light soiling and toning to the cream stock; white border on the picture side.
