A close view of the cracked, steaming crater of the Mud Volcano, with a party of visitors in hats and coats watching from a railed boardwalk at the rim. The Mud Volcano area lies along the Grand Loop Road in Yellowstone National Park and was one of the earliest stops on the park's stagecoach tours; Haynes, the park's official photographer, issued views of its bubbling mud pots and hot springs for decades. The card carries a 1923 copyright by Haynes.
