About this postcard
A dense crowd of visitors in summer hats fills the walkways of the "Streets of Paris" concession at Chicago's 1933–34 Century of Progress Exposition, with striped red-and-white awnings, a domed pavilion, and an American flag on a tall pole above the throng. The Streets of Paris was one of the fair's most popular midways, a simulated French boulevard of cafes and shows on the exposition's grounds along Lake Michigan. The Century of Progress opened in 1933 to mark Chicago's centennial and drew tens of millions of visitors before closing in 1934.
