Crystal Pool, Texarkana, Texas, circa 1940

About this postcard

A large outdoor swimming pool fills the foreground, with metal diving platforms, a high slide and a swing-like diving rig rising from the water; a long, low bathhouse with a covered gallery and rows of small windows stands behind, and young trees line the far bank under a pink-tinged sky. The caption names it Crystal Pool in Texarkana, Texas, a municipal-style swimming resort on the Texas-Arkansas state line that was a popular summer recreation spot in the mid-twentieth century. The tinted sky and crosshatched texture are typical of linen-era view cards.
