About this postcard

A quiet view of Cupsuptic Stream near the Rangeley Lakes in western Maine: a still, dark pool mirrors a dense wall of spruce and fir, with a pale granite boulder at the right bank and a few bare snags rising among the evergreens. The Rangeley Lakes region, in Franklin and Oxford counties, became one of Maine's best-known sporting and resort areas in the late nineteenth century, drawing anglers for landlocked salmon and brook trout and vacationers to its grand hotels and camps. Cupsuptic Lake and Stream lie at the western end of the chain, near the Rangeley region's remote backcountry.
