About this postcard
A long, sweeping curved bar dominates this mid-century cocktail lounge, its counter faced with small light-colored tiles and lined with a row of pale vinyl-topped stools. Behind the bar, back-bar shelving holds bottles and glassware beneath a decorative frieze of diamonds and stylized figures, with a circular illuminated panel and a rounded canopy overhead; leather-upholstered chairs and a small round table fill the foreground. Such serpentine bars with tile fronts and patterned fascia were a hallmark of American hotel and supper-club interiors of the 1940s and 1950s.
