About this postcard

A curved concrete dam with a railed walkway and lamp posts holds back a broad reservoir. Snow-capped mountains rise behind the water, with conifers framing the foreground. Mildred writes that she is staying with her brother and his wife, who had just bought a resort just beyond the point at the right of the view. She calls it "a grand spot" and says she is having a wonderful time with all her family. Cushman Dam No. 1 was a Tacoma City Light hydroelectric project on the Olympic Peninsula. The reservoir and surrounding mountains made the area a draw for recreation, and the resort in the message reflects that use.
