Cutthroat trout measured against a ruler, Scenic Northwest, circa 1950

Card type
Linen

About this postcard

A single cutthroat trout is shown in profile against a plain light-blue field, laid out above a long wooden ruler so its length can be read. The fish displays the species' characteristic spotting and the reddish slash at the throat that gives the cutthroat its name. Cards of this kind were sold as angler souvenirs in the Pacific Northwest, where the coastal cutthroat and related subspecies were prized sport fish in the region's rivers and lakes.
