A view across Lake Eloise at Florida Cypress Gardens, where tall bald cypress trees draped with Spanish moss rise from the water. Their knobby knees break the surface, and azaleas bloom along the bank in the foreground, with an orange sky behind the tree line. By the early 1950s, Cypress Gardens near Winter Haven was a well-known Florida attraction, drawing visitors for its flowering grounds, cypress groves, and lakefront setting.
